Overview & FAQs: Performance Seating

What is Performance Seating?

Using the Performance Seating tool will allow you to sell Events as General Admission but seat them internally in a Reserved Seating Venue Plan.

Sell your Event as General Admission for a faster booking journey, then allocate every party to a seat or table after purchase, either by hand or using Auto-Seat.

NOTE - Performance Seating is a platform upgrade and is enabled per Organisation. Contact Support if you would like it switched on.

FAQs

Do Customers see the seat information?

No, there is no UI for the Customer to see seat information when purchasing tickets. The only UI would be in the Transaction Details drawer within the Line-Up Dashboard, via the arrow symbol.

Can I provide Customers the seat information?

Yes, you can use Override Seat Merge Tags below.

{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_AREA_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_SECTION_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_ROW_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_LABEL_OVERRIDE }}

We would recommend using an else Merge Tag in case you have Customers that haven't been seated yet, so it would display the GA Ticket Information:

{% if ticket.SEAT_LABEL_OVERRIDE != "" %}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_AREA_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_SECTION_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_ROW_OVERRIDE }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_LABEL_OVERRIDE }}<br/>
{% else %}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_AREA }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_SECTION }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_GROUP_ROW }}
{{ ticket.SEAT_LABEL }}<br/>
{% endif %}

Which Events can I use Performance Seating on?

General Admission Events only, seated internally on a Reserved Seating Venue Plan. It is not available for Reserved Seating Events and does not currently support Hybrid Venue Plans.

How do I seat my Customers?

Seat parties manually on the Venue Plan, or click Auto-Seat to assign every unseated party in one action. You can combine the two: seat your priority parties manually first, lock them, then Auto-Seat the rest.

Auto-Seat can be run as many times as you need and keeps groups together, flagging any party that has been split.

Can I lock the seating so nothing moves?

Yes, you can lock individual parties or lock the whole map. Locked parties are not moved when Auto-Seat runs.

How do I know whether a Performance has been seated?

The seating screen shows a live summary of the venue capacity, seats allocated automatically or manually, unseated guests and seats still available.

Each party also shows a Seating Status of Auto-Seated, Manually Seated or Unseated.

Can I find specific parties, e.g. with access requirements?

Yes, you can filter and sort parties by party size, purchase date, Customer Form responses (such as access or dietary requirements) and Products purchased.

Expanding a party shows its tickets, Products and Form answers in one place.

Can it auto-seat based on a Form response?

No, Auto-Seat does not read Form responses, but you can filter parties by their responses and seat them manually. Seat Types can also help mark out accessible seats on the Venue Plan.

How do I report on seated Customers?

Create a Transactions Report and use the Override Fields and Metrics. Use Override Seat Label as a Field for one row per guest, or as a Metric to group each party onto one row.

Can I print the seating plan?

Yes, use the Print button on the seating screen to print or export the finished plan for your front of house team.
