What is a Venue Plan?
The design for your Venue, where you can build your seats or areas if you have reserved seating.
If you don't have reserved seating, you can create a General Admission Venue Plan where you can add capacities but without building seats or areas.
What can I build with my Reserved Seating Venue Plan?
You can build and customise the following:
AREAS - these will form the main parts of your Venue Plan and is where your Sections and Seats sit inside. This may be your Stalls, Circle, etc.
SECTIONS - build these within your Area, e.g. Stalls Left, Box A, etc.
ROWS/SEATS - you can add these to your Areas/Sections and customise the details, e.g. spacing, labels, number and order of Seats, etc.
BLOCKS - these can sit on top of your Areas or Sections and will allow ticket buyers to zoom into a section on the Venue Plan to book seats. You may want to add these if you are building an arena-style Venue Plan.
β
βNOTE - you must add a Shape to your Block in order for the customer to select seats within that Block. Once you add the Shape, it will cover the seats on the live Venue Plan. The customer can then click the Block to reveal the seats underneath.
What is a Seat Type?
The category that you can add to your seats on your Reserved Seating Venue Plan.
These will show for internal team members and ticket buyers e.g. Access Seats or Restricted View.
The Seat Types appears as an icon with text when the user hovers on the seat on the Venue Plan.

Does the Venue Plan builder auto-save?
Does the Venue Plan builder auto-save?
The builder does not auto-save or undo, so if you leave the page, move the window, or your internet connection disconnects, you will lose your progress.
We highly recommend saving on a regular basis. This can be done by clicking on an empty space so the Settings comes up on the right side and pressing Save Venue Plan.
If you have made a mistake, you can remedy this by refreshing the page and the last saved version will appear.
What is a Venue Plan Hierarchy and which one should I use?
What is a Venue Plan Hierarchy and which one should I use?
The hierarchy is the structure for your Venue Plan and this will depend on the type of Venue you want to build.
In a conventional theatre plan:
An Area would be Stalls, Circle, Royal Circle, etc.
A Section would be Stalls Left or Stalls Right. These would be separate Sections within the Stalls Area
You would then add your Row to your Section.
Then you can modify the Seats on that Row.
So the Hierarchy would look like:
Area>Section>Row>Seat
However, if your plan is more unconventional, such as an Arena, a Blackbox, or Cabaret-style seating, etc., then please contact Support to discuss further.
Do I need all parts of the hierarchy for a Venue Plan?
Do I need all parts of the hierarchy for a Venue Plan?
The only parts that are optional are Sections and Blocks.
However, while you may not necessarily need Sections within your Areas, i.e. if you are building a relatively small Venue Plan, it could cause issues with a) integrations, specifically with ticket agents and b) reporting if you don't build them within your Areas.
So we would recommend checking with any external integrations and how you'd like to report on sales before building your Plan.
Blocks are specifically designed for arena-style Venue Plans, to sit on top of your Areas. If you are building a more traditional Venue Plan, e.g. Proscenium Arch, then you do not need Blocks.
