What is Basket Validation?
It is a way of setting rules/limitations for your tickets.
This will limit the circumstances in which a ticket can be bought, e.g.:
Setting a minimum and/or maximum of the number of ticket types in a basket
Restricting a Companion Ticket so it can only be purchased if there's an Access Ticket in the basket
How does the rule apply?
When you create a Basket Validation Rule, you add an error message, which will appear for the Customer/user when they have not adhered to the Ruleset.
See the first FAQ below for this error message appears.

I want to set a limit to the amount of tickets a Customer can buy, what's the best Basket Validation Rule for this?
I want to set a limit to the amount of tickets a Customer can buy, what's the best Basket Validation Rule for this?
If you want to create a maximum/minimum number of tickets rule, you can create a rule where the basket must have or can't have more than a certain number.
Depending on your Price Table set-up, you have the option of setting this by:
Variant - for an individual ticket, but perhaps has different prices across multiple Bands
Band - for a certain Tier of pricing, e.g. max 10 tickets from VIP Band
Price - for a specific price in your Price Table. There may be several different prices for a Band or Variant so you may only want to limit this rule to that particular price
Discount - for a particular Discount that's attached to a Variant
Once you've selected the Ruleset, make sure to add an Only If so that the Rule only applies to the type of ticket you've made the rule for - not all tickets (see the previous FAQ above).
Does Basket Validation work on Products?
Does Basket Validation work on Products?
Yes, you have the same options as with Tickets but you also have the extra option:
Basket must include this product for each ticket
This is if you need the amount of Products in a basket to match the number of Tickets, e.g. for a VIP per person Product.
NOTE - this is the only rule that combines Tickets and Products. If there is particular rule you'd like that involves Tickets and Products in the basket, e.g. a comp drink Product if there's 2x Tickets in the basket, this is possible but would depend on your set-up. Please contact Support for detailed help with this kind of rule.
