Guide: Essential Companion Tickets with Basket Validation Rules

Follow the steps below to create a Basket Validation Rule for Access and Essential Companion Tickets

NOTE - the following steps are designed for when you want to limit your Essential Companion Tickets to be purchased only with Access Tickets. You'll need to have created an Access Tag and Access Prices first.

Create a New Basket Validation Rule

  1. On the Price Table page, click Duplicate As Draft to create a new draft version of the Price Table

  2. Click Basket Validation and on the pop-up, click New Basket Validation

Add Details

  1. Name - for internal use, e.g. Access/Companion

  2. Description - for internal use, e.g. Access & Companion tickets to be sold correctly

  3. Error Message - this is the message that will appear in the Online Booking Flow when the rules are not met for your chosen Tickets or prices, e.g. Essential Companion tickets may only be purchased with Access Tickets

Add Rules

  1. You'll need to select a few Validation Rules from the dropdown. The following is an example of ensuring a 1:1 ratio of Access and Essential Companion Tickets:

    1. Customer has tag {access} - this means that only Customers with an access Tag can purchase Essential Companion Tickets. This can also be an Essential Companion Tag if you prefer to keep it separate from Access Tickets

    2. Basket can't have more than {1} tickets from variant(s) {Essential Companion}

    3. Basket must have at least {1} tickets from variant(s) {Access}

  2. Add an Only If rule - this will mean that the rules you've added will only apply if the following condition is met:

    Basket has at least {1} tickets from variant(s) {Essential Companion} - the rules above will only be considered if an Essential Companion Ticket is in the Basket.

    NOTE - if you have a Customer who would require two Essential Companions, you would need a separate Tag and Basket Validation rule. It's not possible to have different multiples of the same rule within one Basket Validation. If you require further specificity, please contact Support.

  3. Click Save Validation Rule and it will be applied to your Price Table

  4. Save, Review and Publish the table for your changes to go live
