'View from seat' for General Availability (GA) events

View from seat for reserved seating events relies on a customer selecting a specific seat from a venue plan on the customer booking flow. For GA events, there is no venue plan so a different approach has been necessary.

For GA events, this is now configured at the Price Band level. Once a performance date is selected, the ticket selection list can now be configured to present a clickable 'view from seat' preview for that price band. This can be expanded for a full screen view:

This is also presented when viewing the booking flow on mobile:

And expanding the view to full screen:

Odd/even seat numbering in Venue Plan builder

We have added the ability to apply odd and even seat numbering in the venue plan builder.

What's new

When building or updating a venue plan, we have introduced two new options for applying seat labels: odd or even numbering.

These new options work in the same way as the other seat label options that were previously available.

In this example, row A is selected and labels updated to 'odd':

This is available now, no special implementation is required.

Basket Grouping enhancements

We released a major update to the Basket in Box Office to support items grouping, summary totals, and easier management. Following feedback, we have made some further changes.

What's new

Payment section

Following the initial implementation, the Payment section of the basket was always present, even when no payments had been taken, for example, on a reserved booking.

We have updated the Payment section so that it now only appears if a payment has been taken.

Example 1 - Initial sales journey with a performance newly added to the basket:

Example 2 - Reservation journey completed and reserved basket displayed:

Example 3 - Partial payment taken for the reservation with the remaining balance updated:

Event order in the basket

On the occasions where you need to add multiple events to the same basket, and/or multiple performances for an event, there was no defined order in how that would be displayed.

We have added logic to standardise how events and performances are displayed:

  • Events - Where multiple events are added, these will be shown in alphabetical order.

  • Performances - Where multiple performances for an event are added, these will be displayed under that even in date/time order.

Example:

Venue Plan Search

We have now made it easier to find the venue plan you want across the dashboard.

What's new

We have added the ability to search for a venue plan where applicable, this is especially useful if you are managing a long list of venue plans.

Venues>Venue Plans

When you need to review or modify a venue plan, clicking 'Venues' on the left side menu, then 'Venue Plans' at the top right, takes to the the Venue Plan list. A new search bar has been added at the top of the list that enables searching for the plan you need:

Typing in the search bar starts matching on the venue plan list immediately:

Managing Availability

Similarly, when you want to manage availabilities, the same search bar is now present to simplify finding the venue plan you need:

Price Profiles

When adding a price profile, the display has been simplified to update the venue plan and price table selection:

Clicking 'New Price Profile' will take you to the updated New Price Profile screen. You will see that the 'Venue Plan & Pricing' section has been simplified and the new search feature added:

When you click into the venue plan search box, the list of available venue plans is shown, typing in the search box will start matching against the list:

You can still scroll down the list. Regardless of how many venue plans you have, the list will scroll - you no longer need to page through the list!

The same applies to the Price Table search and selection:

Once you complete your selections, you can proceed as normal.

Basket Grouping

Over the past few weeks, we have been making gradual changes to the basket in the Box Office, enabling:

  • Bulk adding seats and products to the basket with the new item selector,

  • Clear visibility of the number of seats in the basket,

  • Performance linked products being shown with the associated performance,

  • Easier display of adjusters.

On 6 October, we will be introducing further changes to the basket, and order details, in box office to support seat and product grouping, as well as a clearer display.

What's new

Key updates include:

1. The addition of colour to each basket section heading to clearly distinguish each area:

  • Events

  • Standalone Products

  • Delivery

  • Add Ons

  • Order Total

  • Payment

2. The addition of 'Price', 'Quantity' and 'Total' fields at the group level, as well as a 'hover over' on price that shows the outside adjusters that have been included in the item price.

3. Logical grouping of items in the basket based on:

  • Price Band,

  • Variant,

  • Seat adjacency for reserved seating events.

4. Easy access to see the full pricing breakdown for an individual item in a group, including the 'Net', 'Tax' and 'Gross' amounts per item, as well as all adjusters that may have been applied.

5. The same views apply to Standalone Products, Delivery Methods and Add ons, as well as enabling the expansion of the Order Total, and Payment areas:

6. When items are removed from a group or exchanged/refunded, the group in the basket will be adjusted to ensure the consistent display based on band, variant, and adjacency:

7. When completing an exchange or return, the 'bin' icon is available at both the top grouping level, as well as at the individual item level. This helps to simplify the removal of items from exchange/refund:

8. We have also introduced the summary of payments received with a clear breakdown available:

These changes will also address several client ideas that have been received, click on the idea title below to see the original suggestion in the Ideas Portal:
