Guide: Create & Manage a Basket Discount

Create a New Basket Discount

  1. Go to the Discounts page on the left hand side

  2. Select the Basket tab in the right-hand side menu

  3. Click Add New Basket Discount in the top right

  4. Enter a Name for the Basket Discount and click Submit

Once submitted, the set-up tabs are shown in the top right:

  • Prices

  • Visibility

  • Coupons

  • An Archive option

NOTE - a Basket Discount can only be archived if it is not currently applied to a Channel.

Set Your Price Rules

Prices is where the Discount amounts or percentages are defined.

  1. Click the Prices tab

  2. Click Add Rule to start building out the Discount structure

  3. For each rule, define:

    1. The basket value threshold (e.g. If basket value is greater than £50)

    2. The reduction - as a fixed amount off or a percentage of the basket

  4. Click Submit to save

NOTES:

  • Rules are read top to bottom and the first matching rule, i.e. according the basket value at the time, is applied at checkout.

  • You can mix fixed amount and percentage rules within the same Discount, but set the order of your rules with this in mind.

Manage Discount Visibility

Click the Visibility tab, which is split into three sections.

Channel Visibility

  1. Select the Channels where the discount will be available

  2. Once a Channel is selected, optional on sale and off sale date fields appear for that Channel. Use these to control exactly when the discount is valid for each Channel.

  3. Click Update to save

NOTE - with no Channels selected, the discount will not be visible anywhere.

Apply to Channels

Toggle this on to have the discount automatically applied to Orders placed through the selected Channels, without requiring a Coupon code.

NOTE - when set to No, a Coupon code must be entered for the discount to apply.

Visibility Rules

Set inclusion or exclusion rules for Events, Performances or Products.

  1. Use the Apply Rule to dropdown to select the type. Options are:

    1. Event - include or exclude by Event ID

      1. Choose in or not in

      2. Type in the Event title and add as many as you like

    2. Performance - include or exclude for:

      1. Start Date

      2. Start Time

      3. Tag

      4. Day of the Week

    3. Product - include or exclude by Event ID

  2. Click Save Ruleset

NOTE - Visibility Rules check whether the defined item is present (or absent) in the basket. They do not limit what else can be in the basket.

Coupons

  1. Click the Coupons tab

  2. Click Add New Coupons

  3. Choose from the standard Coupon creation options:

    1. Manually create codes

    2. Generate codes for me

    3. Upload codes from a CSV file
